Di Hickman Card Sketch Challenge "August # 4"

It feels really Autumnal today so for this sketch I put to use a few metal leaves I got off an old bracelet along with leaf stamps and a mushroom and fern stamp.

C.P.S.# 79 sketch challenge

I always enjoy doing sketch challenges and this one was no exception.

1stly I prepared a card blank with adirondak inks, a sponge and a tanda stamps flourish rubber stamp. I then cut out this cute image from an old postcard, mounted it onto a glitter card and then onto the card blank. To finish I punched out the poppies using a sizzix die & and some black brads & mounted using silicon glue.

Papertake Weekly challenge "A stitch in time"

Sewing is not one of my best abilities and so for this challenge I have cheated slightly and used a peel off stuck onto pink card and then sewn with burgundy embroidery cotton.

I then finished it off with a feather mounted it onto a square of white card which I had embossed with a cuttlebug folder and done a chain stitch around the outside before placing it all onto the prepared card blank.

Rainbow Lady challenge "Doorhangers"

Well here is another 1st for me, I have never made a door hanger, Any way I have had a go and rather than using the template I have used a large punch for the handle to fit through.

Arty Girlz Challenge "Summer"

Not sure that I can remember what summer is supposed to be like but then I found an old postcard and had a brain storm! LOL

Dutchdare Card Challenge "Make a card for a girl"

Just browsing the blogs and found this challenge blog, I made this card yesterday for my niece and decided it was just right for this challenge so here it is.

As is becoming my norm I used an encaustic backing and added the stamped, coloured, glittered & cut out image of the fairy as a topper. I think this is really girly!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge "In The Water"

Yet again I have combined rubber stamping with encaustic work....This time I used blue and green waxes to get a watery backing which I then rubber stamped the mermaid image using black stazon, I have then mounted onto a blue backing card before placing onto the card blank which I had coloured using adirondak inks and a sponge.

Tanda Teaser "Pretty Pink"

Not had a whole lot of time for crafting this week, lots of visitors over the bank holiday weekend and then I've had my Grand~daughter staying for a couple of nights.

I have managed to do a couple of the challenges how-ever and I will try to get around to the rest soon. For the Tanda Teaser Pretty Pink Challenge, I decided to make some pinks.......Firstly I coloured some photographic paper with pink wax, I then rubber stamped my flowers on to it using black stazon. I then cut the flower blooms out. The card blank was prepared with a pink patterned backing paper. I then mounted some pink card onto cream card rubber stamped the flower image again, coloured the leaves and stems and added a pink ribbon bow. The final touch was to add the blooms cut from the waxed paper with foam pads.

Di Hickman Sketch Challenge.

This sketch looked a lot easier than it turned out to be, but great fun.

Rainbow Lady Challenge "Transport"

For this challenge I have sponged colour directly onto the card blank, I have then used a piece of encaustic work, which I rubber stamped onto using black stazon and mounted onto black card.

Quite pleased with the end result!

Daring Cardmakers Challenge "Its a Wrap"

This was a great challenge, not sure that I have got the hang of these wrap cards, or if I am honest, if I like them. But I have had a go and here is the result!

C.P.S. Sketch # 78

This was a lovely sketch to work and came in just right for a birthday card I need for my nieces husband.

Papertake Weekly Challenge "Katharina's Sketch 9"

After using a floral backing paper I decided to use plain colour paper for the panels & flower, which I run through a cuttlebug embossing folder.

Arty Girlz Challenge 48 "Add Shapes"

I decided on funky and fun for this challenge.

My Time To Craft "Recipe" Challenge

The recipe called for 1 ribbon, 1 flower, 2 buttons & glitter.

After mixing all the ingredients together and cooking with gas here is the result!

Tanda Teaser "Great Shapes"

I decided to go for a cracker for this challenge!

Tilda & Co Challenge "Cold As Ice"

For this challenge I have used sizzix frame and snowflakes along with cuttlebug embossing folder and plenty of glitter.

Di Hickman Sketch Challenge.

For this sketch I have used some encaustic work for the backing along with my little flying bird rubber stamp, a couple of paper flowers and a peel-off sentiment.

Rainbow Lady Challenge "Music"

I have fallen back on one of my favourite rubber stamps for this challenge and kept it simply by using adirondak inks and a sponge along with some music stamps for the backing.

Cutecard Thursday Challenge "Soft Furnishings"

This challenge threw me into confusion for a short while as I could not think of a thing to do, any way I ended up using some scraps of lace to frame the image and also make a lace flower.

Tilda & Co Challenge "Christmas is comming"

I again have tried something a little different for this challenge, I used my cricut machine to cut out a snow globe, I also cut the globe from acetate and then turned it into snow globe card with an image of Tilda sat inside.

Papertake weekly challenge "button it"

For this challenge I have tried something a little different and am not sure on how well it worked but I will display it anyway.
I used two card blanks, and used them to form a card that opens from the top to display a greeting tag and also opens as normal for personal greeting. And of course a lovely shinny button keeps it all together!

Arty Girlz weekly Challenge "no patterned paper"

I took this opportunity to use some of my encaustic work as a backing, and I think it is quite effective!

Tanda Teaser, "its all in the words"

I needed to do a christening card for my friends to give her great-great-grandson, so used this challenge as an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone!

My Time To Craft Challenge "Cats"

Odd how these challenges work out, I used a cat for one of the challenges the other day and today this challenge calls for cats......I have used a rubber stamp that I have had for simply ages, in fact I cannot remember where it came from but its quite a little cutie!

Rainbow Lady Challenge 25 "spots & stripes"

Well I finally got around to finding a little playtime and have done this card for the Rainbow lady challenge, I do not normally use sheet decoupage but just loved this cute cat image!

I also done this dragon card for no particular reason other than I loved the decoupage and was really pleased with the encaustic back-ground. it reminded me of melted chocolate and given the title of the dragons book thought it appropriate!

Di Hickman August 6 Sketch Challenge.

I had a bit of fun with this sketch joining two card blanks to make an overlap card. I used patterned papers, bronze card embossed with a cuttlebug swirls folder, a collage rubber stamp and sentiment rubber stamp. The finishing touches a couple of pearl buttons and a piece of red string.

Sadly it has not scanned too well but I think you can get the gist of it!

Tanda Teaser - Fine Flourishes!

For this challenge I have sponged adirondak ink directly onto the card blank, I have then used adirondak ink in a different colour sponged through a stencil to give some flourishes, I then went around these with a yellow brush pen. I then simply added my cut out character.

Cute Card Thursday "The two of us"

I have been itching to find the opportunity to use this stamp and here it is. I have kept it fairly simple as the backing paper I chose for this challenge is quite elaborate in itself.

Wednesday, 6 August 2008

And finally for today...

one to share, this is the card I have done for my brother in law's birthday, combining encaustic work with a rubber stamp.

C.P.S. Sketch 76

Lots of lovely sketches out there in blog land this week, for this one I used some of my encaustic work as a backing for this lovely fairy girl. Simple but effective.

Papertake Sketch 8

I enjoyed this sketch very much and am quite pleased with the result.

My Time To Craft "Its Christmas"

Well I suppose we should be thinking about Christmas Cards even if we have not had summer yet....

I have used a new stamp which I purchased from ebay and am delighted with.
Cynthia I decided I like the stamp better without the arms but would love to see your take with it.

Rainbow Lady challenge 24 "Swirls & Flourishes"

For this challenge I have combined several medias, I rubber stamped the card blank using black stazon, I also used black stazon to stamp the cat, hearts and flourishes before using my encaustic iron and wax.

Tilda Challenge "Sketch this"

Well I have not had much time or inclination just lately for crafting, my husband gave us a scare with his health but thankfully it was not as sinister as it at first appeared so here I am back crafting with a vengeance.

For the first challenge today I have done the sketch on the Tilda blog:-
