Encaustic work!

Here is one I thought I would share with you all as I was so pleased with the result....If you haven't tried encaustic work you really ought to have a go, its great fun!

My Last Commissioned Card for today

Thought I would share this one with you, I have had several 100 th Birthday cards to make recently.

Arty Girlz Challenge "Blue"

Once again I have used my encaustic iron and waxes to produce a backing for my little fish rubber stamp, the card blank has been sponged using adirondak inks and the finishing touches a large birthday peel-off and some pretty ribbon.

My Time To Craft Challenge "Red, Black & White"

I chose to do a 50th birthday card for this challenge and kept things simple.

Tanda Teaser Challenge "Lets hear it for the boys"

Yet again for this challenge I have taken the opportunity to do a commissioned card for a little boys 1st day at school.

C.P.S. sketch challenge 75

For this challenge I have used a real mixed bag of medias. I have covered the card blank with green mulberry paper, I then made a backing paper using waxes and an encaustic iron a butterfly stamp and stazon ink, the large butterfly I stamped using stazon and then coloured using adirondak inks and a sponge. Finally I made a scalloped edged border with the small butterfly stamp and little flowers. The result a very busy card!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge "Things that Grow"

Well I have had a pretty hectic time just lately ( whats new ) and I have several commissioned cards to make as well as trying to keep up with the challenges, so for this challenge I have taken the opportunity to do a commissioned card for a little girls 1st day at school. How does that fit in with this challenge I hear you ask, well Children grow don't they?

Artygirlz weekly challenge "Eras"

For this challenge I have used one of my new stamps that depicts a very elegant lady from years gone by, I coloured the backing card with adirondak inks and a sponge.

Rainbow Lady challenge, "Christmas tags"

Just done a quickie for this challenge as I am not getting much time in my craft room at present.

Tanda Teaser - Walk Like An 'Egyptian'!!

I am hopeful that I have sorted out where I went wrong, as I have said above, I made this card using a Tanda stamp which I then coloured in with a stylus tool and hot wax, the surrounding images are cut from paper.

Papertake weekly "Katharina's Sketch 7"

I really do like working with sketches and this one was a really nice one to do!

I used backing papers along with a little garden bench rubber stamp some lilac ribbon and a couple of peel-off sentiments.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge "Animals No People"

For this challenge I fell back on a good old favourite, I really adore these little house mouse characters and think this one needs a little love!

And Finally for today!

My hubby and I went to Barnstaple for the day yesterday and there in the pannier market was a lovely lady making the most fantastic Encaustic art pictures. Well that was it I just had to go and buy some materials to have a go, and I am sharing with you all my first attempt.

I can only dream of becoming as talented as the lady at the market, but am going to enjoy playing and hope I will get better as it is a lot harder than she made it look!

Papertake Weekly Challenge "Teenage Kicks"

I have used an image from my clipart stash for this card and decoupaged it onto a prepared card blank, the finishing touches were the word stickers and some little fluttering butterflies rubber stamped to form a boarder.

My Time To Craft "Challenge 23: Artfully Asian "

There seems to be a big demand for oriental challenges at the moment, The challenge for My Time To Craft this week is artfully Asian, I have used a clip art image, printed in draft to give a faded backing effect, I then printed out a geisha girl and decoupaged her before setting onto the prepared card, the final touches a few rubber stamped images.

CPS 73 Sketch Challenge.

I thought this sketch was lovely and enjoyed following it.

Thank you for the kind comments, and yes the lady is a rubber stamp but I am not certain which make it is.

Rainbow Ladies Challenge Blog "Oriental"

I have used a tanda stamp for the main part of this card, coloured with sakura pens, cut out and mounted using foam pads. I then used some glossy oriental backing paper, red silk flowers folded into the corners and some sizzix corners punched from black glossy card.

Ismaki Challenge 28

This challenge certainly was a little different and made me stretch myself a little more.

But not to be defeated I have had a go and have to say I am quite pleased with the end result.

Some more ordered cards for "GRUMPY JACK & ANN"

Well I need to publish these cards as Grumpy Jack gets his knickers in a twist if I fail to mention the cards I make for him. So here are 2 of the 3 they have ordered, the 3rd being the ismaki sketch 27 card I made the other week!

Daring Cardmakers challenge "card with peel-offs"

I have made several cards over the years using peel-offs and think they can make really great cards! For this card I have used a backing paper, peel-offs and sakura gel pens for what I think is quite a sophisticated card!

Daring Cardmakers Challenge "Got your number"

The card I made for this challenge is a celebration 18th card. Not sure if I really like it though but I will let it stand!

Theme Thursday Challenge "Love, Romance, Weddings"

I have kept this challenge card fairly simple using a tanda rubber stamp, adirondak inks and a sponge.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge "Card for a Child"

I bought this stamp earlier this year and have only used it once so it was time to give it another airing.

I decided it would make an ideal 1st birthday card, and chose a blue colour scheme for a little boy!

Tanda Teaser Challenge "Double Trouble"

Well for this challenge I was flummoxed, how to do a reverse image, I have a reversing stamp but never find this very successful, any way having given it some thought and having rummaged around my craft room I came across a pack of name badge laminating pouches. (Brain wave time)!

I cut a piece of white paper to fit the pouch, rubber stamped the tree image and the giraffe onto the paper and filled in the white areas with adirondak inks and a sponge, I then rubber stamped the giraffe image using stazon onto the inside of the laminating pouch, laminated it all together, punched a hole and added a ribbon and one book mark made. I then prepared the card blank and hey presto!
A card with a gift.

Finally for Today.....

finally for today I thought I would share a canvas I have done, if it reminds anyone of a card I made a couple of weeks ago, that is because it is a larger version of a card I made a couple of weeks ago! I was so pleased with the card and decided it would make a lovely picture, so I bought a canvas board and reproduced the card directly onto it (omitting the ribbons). For the mermaid I rubber stamped her onto blue paper and then scanned it into my computer and enlarged it before printing out and edging with adirondak sponged inks.

Now to find a home for it!

Papertake weekly challenge "Katharina's Sketch #6 "

I thought this was a lovely sketch to work with and thoroughly enjoyed making this card, once I had decided on a colour scheme things just seemed to fall into place.

Artygirlz sketch challenge.

This card I made with mainly backing papers, using a rubber stamp only for the main rectangle. The finishing touches were a few silver brads.

Tilda & Co Challenge "thinking of others"

I have had a quick go at this challenge, but as I am not very good at making things I instead decorated a shop bought note pad.

I Have An Award!

I was delighted to hear that Cynthia (http://rainbowladyscraftyblog.blogspot.com/) thought that my work was deserving of this award. Thank you very much Cynthia, I will wear it with pride. I understands that I also have to nominate someone else who I think is deserving, well there can be only one and that is Wendy ( http://craftblog.craftybutterfly.co.uk/) as I get so much inspiration from her and her blog!

My Time To Craft challenge 22 "numbers"

For this challenge I have combined it with a card I needed to make a retired carpenters 80th birthday.

Rainbow Lady Challenge 20 "favourite flower"

I love all flowers especially when someone else buys them for me! But my favourite has to be the hand made flower, as it last for a long long time!

Sorry I should of explained how I made these flowers. I have used a tanda rubber stamp and stamped it once onto coloured vellum paper on once onto 3 layers of fantasy film. I have then cut them out and put them together with a glass tack thing. ( I say tack thing as I bought it as a set in the £ shop and it is brilliant .)

ISMAKI Sketch Challenge 27, "option fairies"

I have gone for the option this week and have used an old favourite rubber stamp, stamped directly onto fantasy film and trimmed. I have also used printed vellum for backing and the flower.
Sadly it has not scanned too well, but I think you get the idea!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge " THE GREAT OUTDOORS"

For this challenge I have fallen back on a good old house mouse rubber stamp.

C.P.S. 71 sketch

I thought this was a simple layout and decided to keep the card simple to go with it.

And I think it really paid off as I was delighted with the end result, what do you think?

Papertake Weekly Challenge "Thanks a latte"

Well this was a fun one and I have used my cricut machine for the mug and steam and rubber stamps with adirondak inks for the backing. A little ribbon bow and blue diamante finish it off!

Artygirlz Challenge "Favourite Song"

This challenge really got the old gray matter working, I like lots of songs but depicting them on a card is another matter all together. Any way one of my favourite songs is "Lonely by Akon" and I hope my card sums this up!

Ismaki Sketch Challenge

I really do enjoy following the sketch challenges and this week I have combined old and new. Old stamp new paper.

My Time To Craft Challenge "Seasons"

I could not get myself in the right frame of mind yesterday, I have failed to come up with any ideas for several of the challenges this week, but did decide that a good season to do for this challenge would be "Butterfly Season"!

Cute Card Thursday Challenge "No patterned paper"

I am a little late getting this one on as it is for last weeks challenge of no patterned paper. I have coloured directly onto the card blank using a sponge, adirondak inks, rubber stamps and some peel-offs as masks. I finished it off with the little girl, stamped, cut out and stuck on with foam pads.
